Landmark Center’s Community Artist Resident Engagement Program

Landmark Center has selected acclaimed photographer Wing Young Huie as the first Artist in Residence of the newly created Community Artist Resident Engagement (CARE) program. CARE is designed to build and strengthen community involvement, especially with under-represented communities, through direct public engagement with the process of art-making.

With the assistance of Forecast Public Art, Huie was selected to lead a series of free community engagement programs over the next year at Landmark Center. The series, titled “what do you see?”consists of two consecutive photography master classes culminating in a class exhibition; Huie’s signature Chalk Talks, held during the St. Paul Winter Carnival; as well as other exhibits and artistic collaborations. Huie’s focus for “what do you see?”will be the use of photography to invite and encourage everyone to discover the stories and the connections that bring people together.
